Good job, I also thought that I would mention I have seen three yes three scoobys eat it this year, all autocross, one hit a pole on a spin the other two were up over the curb and one was over and into a fence.
Two were new WRX cars one was a 2.5rs, one of the WRx cars still had the sticker in the window! Ouch. This by the way is no ragg on the scoobies its just that there are so many of hem at each event they have a greater chance of wrecking, and I guess wining! go figure.

Well guys as for my friend who crashed, which took the air out of everyone for a second or two, he's claiming hit-and-run with his insurance, so alls not lost. He even swept the debree and put it in a bag so when he took his car home he could throw the debree on the ground to make it look like it happen there. He was coming out of a Sweeper and into a Sharp Shikane and over corrected it and slammed into the wall after he past the timer. ******* was able to crash his car and still get a better time than me. That's OK, I'll take a car intact anyday over a better run. And Yes, as for the advantages that the WRX has over the SVT, I'm content with the results. My friend who pulled off a 48 second run, he's one of the best drivers that race at these events, so taken into account that, AWD, limited-slip, shorter wheelbase, better 50/50 weight balance, as well as the fact that he lowered the car a little and put on his Audi TT rims and tires which gave the car wider traction, I think I and the SVT proved it's worth on Sunday. Coming in 5th place behind a field of about 50 cars is pretty damn good. 1. Curtis Lee - 46.550 Datsun 240Z 2. Earl Huang - 48.840 WRX 3. Aaron - 49.516 WRX 4. ? - 49.? S2000 5. (ME) Micah - 50.196 99 SVT Contour 6 down were 2.5 Subaru RS's and WRX's a total of 22 of these Boxter motored cars, including a small crop of Hondas and a Nissan 240 and a bunch of other non-threatining cars on the list.

By the way guys, this was not an Auto X event but we raced on a Road Course. Origanally like I mentioned we were suppose to run a full course, but I guess insurance issue couldn't be finalized before the race so everything needed to be race under the Auto X rules, so that's why they setup cones on the road course just to slow the cars down, still was fun, very fun, and an extremely diffucult track that they setup as well....Aloha Micah

Great job Quicksilver. WRX, 240Z and S2000 are some fast company. You definately gave the Scoobie crew something to think about.

At the divisional auto-x we, the STS competitors, had our cars weighed on certified scales. My SVT weighed 3022 lbs w/ OZ Superleggera/ Bridgestone S-02 Pole Position in size 215/45-17 and no sunroof. The three Subarus weighed within 5 lbs of each other averaging at 2827 lbs. and all were sticks. These were Impreza RS 2.5, not the WRX.

Heh I don't consider the WRX a rice-burner; it's all about what the owner does to it. Truth be told, I love my tour, but would be more than pleased to get my hands on one of those cars.

As an ex-Csvt owner, and a WRX owner I'd say that the WRX is a better car. The WRX has more power even in stock form (with mod, high 13 in the quarter mile is very attainable) shorter wheel base make a more robust chasis, all wheel drive provide a lot of grip. The WRX is an enthusiast dream car. I would say that Ford did a half baked job on the Csvt, and Subaru did a really good job on the WRX. No short cut on the car, just honest engineering for what it is designed for. Enjoy your Contour, but when it is time for a replacement, take a hard look at the WRX.

Well just to clarify with those who may feel I dislike the WRX in anyway, that is no were near how I feel about these cars. I in fact may buy me one in the near future. The topic here was how the SVT would fare against a crop of WRX's. Obviously the results speak for itself. I posted this thread to let other SVT loyals know just what to expect when going up against one of this imported beasts. I like to add that my car is lightly modded, and I have alot more plans in the near future with the trans, including a complete buildup of the Duratec 2.5 to try and get somewhere in the range of around 270-290 N/A hp. Plz take into account that although there are some quirks with the SVT such as body rigidity, interior squeaks, and no damn factory limited slip (Sucks) it is a superb car to say the least, and lot of potential can come from this car. Within a year I'll probably be installing a rollcage so that will solve the rigidity issue anyways.....Aloha

Well I agree & disagree. The WRX is a rally drivers dream car but not mine. The short wheelbase is an edge in tight autocross courses but is less stable for high speed work on track and on road. I am interested more in "on road" performance. 4WD is a great advantage in mud & gravel but really not for the road beyond bad weather and hard launches. I don't drag race and the FWD is pretty good in bad weather in its own right. The downside of 4WD is weight (WRX is 100 lbs more than the larger SVT), complexity (more to break), and that 20-25% power loss to the ground (from 227 crank HP to 168-180 wheel HP per 2 recent dynos).
The car has the peakest dynos Ive seen on any stock car with a power band from 3000-5500RPM then it plummets. Must have some nice turbo lag. The lag and peakiness will only get worse as the boost is inevitably jacked up - not my choice for a sport sedan that sees daily passenger car duty, including a bit of traffic.
Both cars have a good chassis and the WRX is stiffer as all cars gain rigidity with passing years (the Mondeo hit the roads in 1993, and in its day was a rigid car). This is easily correctable with STBs and subframe connectors - all pretty cheap. Add a rear sway bar and for very little money you have a car that now has very little understeer/body roll and just enhances what has been called the best handling FWD sedan and named one of the best handling cars under $30K. Another $1000 will buy you 20 more HP (Y-pipe, catback, KKM and matching 75mm MAF). So for a new car price of 20K (mine was 18.4), you have invested $21.5K for a 220 HP sedan with as much speed, handling, stiffness, brakes, as a $24K WRX with better room and (subjectively much better) looks. So if the CSVT is "half baked" form the factory - the fully baked version kicks ass. As Quicksilver just demonstrated to a field of Subies in a Suibe sponsered event.
