I was wondering if I could get some advice on window tint from some other Californian due to our state laws limiting what is legal and illegal. The local tint shops I called are charging 200-250$ for a 5 window tint job. Is this an average price or should I look elsewhere?
Both places I called say they have 4 shades: light, medium, dark, limo. I was thinking about getting medium/dark in the back with a light tint in the front so I don't have to worry TOO much about getting pulled over. What would you guys reccommend? Could I go with medium in the front and not have too many problems? Thanks.

Not sure about the price. I think it depends on where you live/quality you want. For the legal part: You can have the back windows as dark as you would like. Technically, the front windows are NOT supposed to be tinted at all. but most cops will let you get away with the fronts being enough to where they can still see you. Hope this helps. Johnny

if you are ever in the costa mesa area try the tint connection 949-650-tint. i got a five window tint, limo rear and medium in front, for about $160. they do good work. they even took apart the third brake light rather than cut around it. legally no tint is allowed in the front although you can tint the rear however you please. usaully you will not have a problem if you tint the front windows. i got a ticket for something else recently and the officer commented that the tint was not legal and that he was going to ignore it.

very true... I have the rear windows limo tinted (for the little guy I cart around all the time), but was advised against having the front windows tinted. If you have the front three windows tinted, it gives any Cop that feels like it a reason to pull you over and issue a fix-it ticket...

True, but if the cop want s to be a dick he could make you take off your tint right then and there...ad not give you a ticket, but just embarass you in traffic. I ahve seen it done many times.

$100 bucks? what film was used? 3M, HP or Llumar?
I think these are some of the best films as far as no-fade and and changing to purple nasty blue color.
for 100 dollars i dont think you can get any of these films.
Buy the right stuff and you wont be embarrased to drive your car in 2 years.

Its been over 2 yrs since he had his car tinted and I dont see any fading or purple-ish color in these film. I honestly dont know the brand of the tint film theyre using but they mostly do BMWs for a dealership nearby. I dont think they would use anything that is crap for BMWs wouldnt you think so? Anyways...from the look of the tint done 2 yrs ago on his car still looks great. Yes, $100.
