I raced a new WRX on the freeway about a month ago. He pulled up on me going about 75mph(just cruising in 5th). He looked over and it was on. I dropped it to 4th and actually slowly pulled away. We raced for about 8-10 miles at about 125-130mph. Neither one ever pulled away from the other. They look great on paper, but it is totally different in the real world. Good luck, and bury em! cool

Bill the WRX is all about a AWD Launch in First. That is where it is. From there it is a tie. I think I am going to have to get a Mod now smile duuhh just to beat a stock WRX!!!

Hey guys lucky for me there will be no launches. We do a rolling start. Don't worry there's only one driver I'm worried about and that's my friend. We both been racing this track for awhile, and he's good, real good. So really my sights are set on him. If i can beat him I'll more than likely beat everyone else.

Remember people no matter how great the car it's the person behind the wheel that makes the difference. So don't worry the SVT, i mean I will pull through, I HOPE!!!! Definately no room for mistakes here. Most of the drivers of the WRX's are new to this sport, save for a couple of my friends, so WINNING is very possible.

Do I hear CHECKERED FLAG!!!

laugh

Well the suspense is over! I have the low down!! I'd like to start with going to the track, my friend who just got him a WRX ended up behind me, we were both heading the same place, there was no cars on the road so we took off, he never gained on me, I never pulled away from him. We never got up to at or near top speed, I think we only got up to near 110mph and than we let of the gas, so I'm not sure what would have happened had we went further.

As for the races well it wasn't all that we expected it to be. It was as I said a Subaru held event as well as the Drivers Foundation, which is my friends non-profit orginization, which sole purpose is to make the streets a safer place and to encourage responsible driving, OH WELL!!! We initially were suppose to run a full course track but that changed. We some how ended up running under the SCCA Solo 2 rules, for insurance reasons, which means speeds shouldn't exceed 70 MPH, so cones were set up everywhere to slow the cars down. Anyways the track we were running, the fastest time was run by a Datsun 240z with a 46.550, next my friend in his WRX, which I said he will be the one I will be focusing on, he ran a 48.840, and an S2000 was in the 49's and my friend who I raced heading to the tracks, he did a 49.516 and ended up crashing his WRX into the guardrails. The back was totalled. There were about 15 WRX and about 8 of the older RS 2dr Subarus, as well as a ton of other non Subaru cars. Well all of them except for the four mentioned above were slower than me from 2-9 seconds. My best time was a 50.196. I was so close to dipping into the 49 that it sucked, but thats racing. Any ? feel free to ask, I'm ready.......Aloha, Micah wink

I made this post in the Auto-X forum, but you might appreciate information. A Subie weighs 200 lbs less than a SVT w/o sunroof and has a 7" shorter wheelbase. This helps greatly in transitional response and braking. The torque between the 2 cars is a wash I think. The allwheel drive w/limited slip helps coming out of every corner over the SVT's one wheel drive. The weight and wheelbase dimensions were taken at a divisional auto-x this weekend.
