Hey guy's I'll be racing my SVT up against a bunch of WRX's this Sunday 8/5 here in Hawaii at the local 1.5 mile road course. Subaru's sponsoring the event. This will be interesting and I can't wait to see if me and my car are up to snuff. There will also be Z's as well as the older STI's and of course your Hondas, but I'm focused on the WRX's and I'm sure everyone will want to know how well our cars will hang with these new all-wheel drive bad boys. I'll give everyone the inside scoops Sunday night, the latest Monday. Alohaaaa...........

Good Luck, I think you'll need it! Those WRX's are awesome, especially with a good driver behind the wheel to keep it on boost.

Depends on how good the driver of the scooby is. The WRX is hard to keep on boost from what I've heard. A 1.5 miles course will give them pleanty of learning oprtunities to keep it on boost if it has many turns since it's kinda short. Watch for their times to drop as they learn how and where to shift...

Guys, I had just posted this last night in the off topic. Here is my experience this past weekend.
Ok guys, here is some more fire and or food for thought for the SVT agaist the WRX. My best friend has a Stock WRX 2k1. Yes it is a 5spd Well, From a 20mph run on the street, He pull me in first by about a door and a half. Then Second Gear, I got the door lenght back. Third gear he pulled by a half a door. 4th gear I started to close back in slowly. By about 95 he was about a bumper ahead. We did this 3 times!!! So the same results occurd. Temps were cool around 8:30ish at night. We did 3 runs from 40 mph also. The runs were about the same as above. He never got more than a half a car lenght ahead of me. This really shock me. I would think it would be a lot faster than that!!!! I do have some decent power noted in my sig though. BUT all changes from a stop!!!! He launched at 3.5k and he pulled me a car and a half by First gear. Mind you my launch was like 1800rpm so I didn't light up the tires. From there He kept about a car and a half lead on me.
He did not launch at 5K like he did to a older Z28 the other nite and just kill it in first gear. The z28 gave up!!! I can tell you that riding the clutch on a AWD smells harmfull to the wallet and clutch!!! So If you have some decent mods find a WRX with little, No mods and run from a punch. It will surprise you. Being Motor Trend said 14.2 at 95 mph for the WRX. I only see that time being made at the launch. I don't see 2nd and up giving mutch more of a advantage or power next to the SVT. My Friend can drive, he's no slouch!!!
So go race one and let me know your results. He didn't come over soon enough to race PhatSVT's supercharged beast Sam you would have won.

Yo QuickSilver... go get them... WRX are quick but it ain't all that. The driver would have to keep the cars in the boost range or else they lag. Kick some butt!!!

Keep in mind folks, he is talking road racing, not 1/4 mile. HUGE difference.

Actually he appears to be talking 1.5 mile road course not AutoX. WRX 4WD woun't help much if the road is paved & dry and his power band is very narrow so I suspect it will be trickier for them to stay "on boost" than for you to stay "on cam" as you have an extra 1000RPMs of powerband over Mr. WRX. They will be 4-wheel drifting and you will be pushing a bit but have more grip (.86g vs .82g or so they say). The cars will require different driving styles for sure but it should be an interesting matchup. Just have fun, drive careful, & make us proud!
BTW, check your oil level and consider running about 6 quarts instead of 5.7. Make sure your airfilter, fuel filter, fuel injectors are reasonably clean and your plugs /wires are reasonably fresh.
