I'm up for a turbo kit, but seriously though, anything more than $2000-$2500 for a turbo, exhaust manifolds, BOV and intake/discharge pipes is a rip off. I don't care who made it.
When I upgraded the turbo on my GSX Eclipse, I paid $450 for a brand new 16G from Turbonetics (which I ported myself). A good 1st gen. Eclipse BOV cost me $120 and the upper intercooler pipe was another $100. So lets say we add another $150 for a well designed intake pipe to connect the filter and MAF to the turbo we are still at $820 not counting the exhaust manifolds. Now the SHM Headers cost what $1000? so something of the same complexity would be needed to run the pipes to the battery location to mount a turbo. So $1820; now add an braided oil feed line $50, and drain line $50 and various miniscule components we are looking at $2k and change for a basic turbo kit. Getting a chip to run it right is another $250 and an FPR and/or larger pump would cost another $300. So for $2500 we are looking at realistic price for good performance. If only I had someone willing to make an exhaust manifold for me I think that I could make something work for the same money or less.
What do you think Chris, am I talking out of my ass?
