No fans must be replaced as a whole unit (On V6's they're are two fans, and they are mounted on a plastic holder)
You must replace the whole unit. I bought mine from a salvage yard and put it in myself. PITA, but doable.
1: Undo fan plastic shroud from the top (bolts on it's side somewhere) be aware the fan shroud is held in the top middle section there by some sorta clip. You'll see once you look.
2: Remove that plastic undercarriage piece below the bumper.
3: Undo the bolts holding the bottom of the radiator in place and push (gently!) the radiator forward towards the front of the car. This widens the gap the fan will come out between. Yes, fan must come out bottom.
4: Taking fan out at an angle, corner first, it sort of pulls out. It's a tight fit, but it worked for me.
5: Reverse process to reinstall new fans.
Make sure the "new" fan assembly has blades that spin freely. If you want extra assurance, buy new from Ford.
Good luck!
