Then why did he dive to cut off a throw from Johnny Damon just a few weeks ago? Less than a rookie mistake from one of the best of all time.

Every year that Manny has played for the Sox, he's let how many balls drop in front of him or past him because he just didn't MOVE for the ball? THAT is being lazy. Johnny Damon makes it look easy. Manny looks lazy.

So just because you do one part of your job slightly better than someone else means that you can be lazy the rest of the time? If I did that at my job, I'd be fired immediately, and I'd expect it.
And a whopping 162 game season? Cry me a damn river. I (and I assume most of the people on this board) work their asses off all year 'round (yes, even in the rain, unlike pro baseball players) for a minor fraction of what these guys are getting paid. We also work a lot harder at our jobs than these people do. Pro baseball players are pro because they're the best at what they do, which inherently makes their job easier for them, because they're that good at what they do. And don't give me the "they work hard in the off season" crap. If they worked hard during the off season, there would be 3 weeks of spring training so the team can gel, and that would be it. Given the way lineups change through the season, don't try to tell me it's so they can get their lineup set.
Nomar whined last year, the year before, and the year before that. He produced NOTHING in the post-season last year. He hasn't been the same player since the wrist injury. He also hasn't produced anything "special" since 1998. That's 6 years. He's a big name, and a decent guy, and is a face for the Sox. Is he a great player? Frankly, I'd rather have Pokey Reese in the slot. Johnny Damon is a far better player than Nomar could ever hope to be, IMO. Hell, Johnny gives himself a serious concussion in the playoffs last year and came back the next week. And STILL produced more than Nomar did.
