Ford has an improved version for the Contour. It is costing me $230 because I have to have it today, but I be you could order it from Bill Jenkins for less. My mechanic said his biggest concern with the FSVT pump was the wiring. He said he would have to hack into my wiring an solder the correct fitting (i.e.- future fire hazard).If he simply "trimmed" the plug-in so it would work, that it would eventually work it way out. If your are a shade tree mechanic and have the time to adapt the FSVT pump then your are probably OK. If your are like me and use the car everyday and want it done right, then no mechanic will touch the FSVT pump. I'll let everyone know how the new countour pump works.
