You have to be kidding me.
No doubt, any fiscal conservative is VERY unhappy with the expenditures of the Bush administration... not because of the increased expenditures on defense and homeland security, but because they have not grown a pair and cut back the weeds of socialist reform in governmental social programs. They have gone so far as INCREASING prescription medicine coverage! GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT INTERFERE WITH THE FREE MARKET! What they should have done is freeze out other countries in the world. The plan I came up with, was not telling the pharmaceutical companies what we will pay, but telling them that we will only buy from them if they do not reduce their prices by more than 10% to any other country and only give away 5% or less of their products. This would cause them to stop selling to virtually every other country in the world. Within a few months all of those countries would repeal their restrictive laws and they would start paying more and we would pay less, and the companies would still turn a big enough profit to continue research.
OK, about the economy and deficit. Did you actually read the article, or just the first couple of lines? The economy is booming right now. As long as they keep expenditures down (of which there is no guarantee), the increased productivity will bring down the deficit. I can hear you now, "Clinton brought down the deficit." He did. He did it by cutting the military and defense funds that we so desperately needed and had a huge hand in getting us into the mess we are in now. That needed to be rectified. The problem is, that the Republican congress should have cut other unnecessary expenses, instead of keeping them as they were.
How about next time you actually use your brain and write a convincing argument, rather than just posting a link to someone else's work?
