The figure, released in the White House's mid-session budget review, is well above the 2003 shortfall of $374 billion, which set the previous record in dollar terms. But it is $76 billion below the $521 billion forecast for this year by the White House in February.

OK, so what you are saying is, it is OK to owe a ton of money, given that the ton you owe isn't nearly as much as you had earlier stated.

I don't know about you but I'd [censored] bricks of happiness if I owed only $6000 on my car instead of $8500.

I think Clinton watched "Enemy at the Gates" and thought that the scene in Stalingrad was perfect for our military too:

"The first man gets the gun, the second man gets the bullets, when the first man is killed the second man takes the gun"

That deficit isn't all Bush. We've had it for a long long time!

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Sure, I would be happy if $2500 was chopped off my car payment. But I would be even more happier if that $8500 lien didn't exist, such as in pre-Bush times.

Plus why don't we go out and ask almost every country to give back what they owe us in full??

They would go broke!! And USA would be way out of debt,

What i am saying is that we have given lots of money out to differnt countries because they needed more food, money, weapons, people? Who pays for our people aiding a country and spending time away working? Guess who? USA, nobody will go protect a 3rd world country and not get paid!! Also how many embaysies do you see who pays for the military to protect those bases? also did you know we give isreal 2 billion dollars every year to spend on our military weapons?

Did you know that we just contributed 25 million dollars to fight aids in africa? And they are still protesting in thailand that they want money also!!

We just sent out 450 speacial forces to protect greece for olympics, and 330,000 dollars for toxic chemical detectors and just yesturday 450,000 for nuclear car scanners!

Listen every other country is asking us for money and we give it!! Did you know we gave avergae 50mil to every state for school, and an average of 13 million was used for school so the rest went back to the goverment for nothing except collecting dust!!

To get my point across is that money is not bad it's the people who handle our countries money is bad!!

It's called poor managment!! If we all had good bosses, are companies would be rich and have plenty of money but still be indept, cause you still have R&R and people on payroll so it's called expanding!!

Come on, don't get me started, it's not becasue of war it's people who don't know anything about politics that go watch TV and that dumb ass michael moore movie and walk out believing every word he has to say!!

Come on if we weren't in dept we would never want to do anything but be lazy, and people in other countries al ready call us that!! HA HA

IT's not how much we spend it's what it goes into, it's called investing!!

Since when has the US NOT owed money. Are you a slider that was teleported from some other dimension or something?

You might as well become a swallower while you're at it, and eat up the horse-sh!t being dished out at the DNC!

PS Clinton's REALLY fond of swallowers!
