Speaking of horrible speakers: Anyone remember that retired Admiral that ran as Perot's vice? Pulled his hearing aid off in the middle of a debate and then did the little jon "WHAT? WHAT?" I think he would fall asleep like Abe Simpson in the middle of debates then wake up and say some crazy stuff. The man has my utmost respect ad a fellow member of our armed force but he was terrible at public speaking...but good for a laugh.

I agree. Perot's running mate in '92 was one hell of a source for mirth. Kerry isn't as bad as Bush at speaking, but he sure as Hell needs some polish. The guy is about as engaging as a corpse left out to rot. I'm fully understanding why Edwards is on the ticket now... I'm predicting a large amount of grammer instructor and speech writer suicides during the upcoming debates, it's going to be so bad.

Man, this is a good read. I wonder how Bush got through YALE talking like he does. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0971410232/What's wrong with saying "My fellow Americans" ? I don't think JFK coined that term. And for him to keep bringing up his Vietnam experience, he has every right to do so. He actually went over to Vietnam and fought in the damn war! I think it is VERY relavent to being Commander In Chief to know what the grunts have to deal with, especially in a time of war. Somehow, I don't think Dubya would ever understand it. That's why he sucks at being CiC.

It never existed as a law.
No, not unless you count the United States CONSTITUTION (specifically the 1st Amendment)as law - as well as dozens and dozens of judicial opinions (otherwise known as the "common law").

These books got old even before he was elected President.

Somehow I don't think Kerry was the average soldier. I don't think the average Navy man dressed up in infantry gear to re-enact battle scenes with a camcorder, distorting the real events by acting as the hero when something completely different happened.
Kerry answers every policy question he's asked by first saying "When I was in Vietnam...". He sure is welcome to do that, but he's not trying out for commission. He's running for President. His service in Vietnam certainly doesn't enhance his ability to be President. His voting record shows us who he really is, and that he's unfit to run this country at any time, especially a time of war.
I have as much to say about why his service is irrelevant as you have to say why it is relevant. It's an issue that has gotten him nowhere.

While I agree Kerry is more qualified in experience to be Commander in Chief of the U.S. forces, my major issue with him is a lack having a cohesive stand on any subject except George Bush is doing it wrong.
If Bush is doing it wrong, tell me what would be doing it right!
Also, Vietnam was over 30 years ago. His record since then is more relevant, as it shows what he has done with his experience already since then. It's not pretty.

You're not supposed to care about that, James. You only need to know two things to decide how to vote: that John Kerry served in Vietnam, and John Edwards is one hot piece of man ass.

I disagree as a voting record is far to black and white to be used as an indication of anything in such a grey world.
Just because one votes against something doesn't necessarily mean they oppose what it stands for -- just how it's implemented. It's very common to vote no on a bill to force it back into committee to try to get more money appropriated.
The voting record is only useful if you take the record and research the reasons why someone voted one way or another on the particular bills.
