This whole thing makes sense to me, Eclipse anti-theft features are a insurance companies worst nightmare.

As far as the rankings go, Alpine, kenwood, Pioneer, Nak, Denon, some RF, Clarion, Eclipse are all similar in quality and performance. Sony had some issues that seem to have been resolved. Never heard any bad reviews of recent JVCs.

McIntosh customer service was the best I have come across from any company in any market.

Steeda,

I assume that DEI was just looking at the eclipse brand from Fujitsu ten? I can't imagine they would be able to have the financial resources to get a small fraction of Fujitsus overall product line.

Great sound and great quality. Only dealt with their customer service once, the manual had a couple blank pages. Got a new manual overnighted. I didn't have an issue with their service, but I may just be the fluke.

No, if you want strong bass, get a decent subwoofer and amplifier, or perhaps a decent set of speakers with good low end capability. The HU really makes no big difference here, they pretty much all have some sort of bass boosting feature.

If you want clarity across the range, pretty much all HUs in the same price range will sound nearly identical. Thier purpose is to play the information on the CD as it is on the CD.

Alpine's bass engine is basically a 1 band parametric EQ. HUs like thier 7998 have a 5 band parametric EQ. Does it improve the bass? No. It allows you to compensate for peaks and valleys in your system's performance. So that said, Eclipse woud be just as good for bass.

Ya they where looking at it From Fugistu. Don't think the deal went threw.

Last years JVC product line was horrible for relability. every 1 out of 3 was back to get swapped out within 2 months.

Sorry, I don't buy it. A 33% return rate would destroy a company. Electronics companies usually have PPMs that are higher than most industries, but 333,333 PPM would put them out of business or get them out of the car audio game within 6 months.

Work at a place that carries the JVC line and you will know what im talking about. The last two places i did and they had problems. Everytime someone came in and said My displays not working or it just randomly shuts off my first question was is it a JVC? Maybe its not 1 out of 3 but its alot more than the other big name companies. Now Kraco i have never seen a problem with there decks. They must be High quality!

i understand the eclipse cd key thing BUT the random thief isnt gonna know jack about it. if they see a hu in the car they arent gonna think "oh wait, its an eclipse. i dont have the cd key. lemme skip it" your going to get it taken only for them to throw it away or sell it to some idiot. any hu with a face that is removed still can be stolen but odds are they arent gonna take a hu with no face. they dont even know the brand. and i know some of u have had faceless hu's stolen. i'm not arguing that. i'd say the only reason i skipped eclipse is the nondetachable face.

When someone steals an eclipse, they just steal the persons CD collection with it.
