That's one my biggest fears driving at night here, and this year especially, there seem to be more and more bears in the roadway, too. Sure we might have wide-open roadways with little traffic, but it's not the people you hafta look out for!
Born & raised in Madawaska.
Last moose vs vehicle conflict I saw was a motorcycle that got charged by a bull. Didn't like the sound of it, I guess. I was following the motorcycle, about 1/2 mile behind him when the moose charged, tossed the bike into the air and the moose then ran off into the woods. Biker died from his injuries. We're talking a 400cc Kawasaki, not a little moped.
Gotta give mother nature her respect...
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Cool! I live and work in Fort Kent. And I thought I'd never meet anyone on here who could even know what I mean when I say *Northern Maine*. I think AlanColes asked about Highway 9 - I'm not sure about that one, I'm even more north than that, and I pretty much travel I95/295, although I ventured off once to go to Belfast.
It's a small world!

That's funny, Eric. But it's true, I was born & raised in the woods. My brother has a T-shirt that says, "Where the F*** is Madawaska, Maine?".
For years I called my wife from Tennessee a hillbilly & a hick, until Christmas 1999, we went to visit my sister. We reached the end of I-95 & kept driving. Two hours later (still not at our destination), it hit her, "You've been calling me a hillbilly all this time & you lived at the end of the earth!!". It's not the end of the earth, but you can see it from there.
I went from one extreme to the other - Northern Maine to South Florida, but I still get to see a weekly copy of the St. John Valley Times.
Crap. I'm rambling again...
