Where I live, we're always worried about hitting a moose broadside and it toppling over and crushing the front. That looks far worse, like they hit head-on, tripped it and it slid headfirst into the cab. No one must've survived that, front or back... (Ok, I just re-read, and I guess she did - AMAZING!!)
That's one my biggest fears driving at night here, and this year especially, there seem to be more and more bears in the roadway, too. Sure we might have wide-open roadways with little traffic, but it's not the people you hafta look out for!

Born & raised in Madawaska.

Last moose vs vehicle conflict I saw was a motorcycle that got charged by a bull. Didn't like the sound of it, I guess. I was following the motorcycle, about 1/2 mile behind him when the moose charged, tossed the bike into the air and the moose then ran off into the woods. Biker died from his injuries. We're talking a 400cc Kawasaki, not a little moped.

Gotta give mother nature her respect...

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
