Dave - I can go you one better on this idea.
Feel free to try it out and report back here if you do this. It's on my list of things to do at some point, but there are a few things ahead of it in line.
MSD sells an rpm switch that uses a variable module for activation between 1000-3000rpms. What I was thinking of doing is using that switch to fire the imrc activation circuit at about 2800-2900rpms. Cost for the msd stuff is only about $70 from summit.
