For $8 and ten minutes of your time, you can change the switch yourself. I think there's info on the website. I just changed mine last month.

i got a 96 contour. my heater/ and a/c blower switch only worked in the fast speed due to the dial not turning... took it apart and found that a ball bearing fell out of place and into a grove inside the switch and it was toast.. cost about $14.00 at the ford dealer for me.. but if you switch moves then it might be the resistor pack where the resistor wires for the slower speeds are burned and broken so they dont work, and it only works via going through the solid wire for the fast speed.. you might have a burned resistor pack???? either way if your car is still in the warranty stage you should not have to pay for either as they are both covered..

What does it mean when the heat only worked on high, twice??
I was driving and had the heat on high, switched it to the next lower setting and it shut off. No other settings worked, but within 15 mins, it worked fine again.
This happened 2 different times and worked fine within 15 mins and no problems since.
I haven't seen anyone post this same problem before so thats why I ask.

Search for resistor pack in common problems, you answers lie there.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

your problem is likely the switch, but check the FAQ section for common problems and check out the resistor pack thingy. You can inspect it to see if it's burning up.

Haha
Mine works on all settings except high. I really don't care though as High is too High for my comfort zone anyway.

This is most likely your problem if the heater only works on high.

do you think that would be the same problem if it was working on all but high?
