Alright, I'm coming home from work and I pull out of the driveway like normal. Then when I accelerate my car feels like it's stuttering, like it's trying to make a lot of power but it just feels like it's rolling over on itself (i.e. the stuttering). When I tried to baby it the rest of the way home it still did the stuttering thing and then the dash area of my car started to shake (as it does when you stall etc)... I'm trying to do my best to explain what is going wrong w/my car. This happened basically everytime I hit the gas and wanted to accelerate faster than an old lady would. The stuttering was definitely less severe then when you would let go of the clutch and immediately hit the gas (think first-time standard drivers & drivers ed kids). My problem isn't big jerks in the car, just little, frequent ones, and the feeling like the car would be stalling (the shaking) when it really isn't. If anyone can help, has any ideas of what this could be, please respond here or my email : msalyss@adelphia.net thank you.

First check you inline fuel filter, and then check the two filters in you in-tank fuel pump. Sounds like fuel starvation.

My Contour had similar problems when I first got it. I cleaned the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) as described in the FAQ and that took care of it. Try this easy and cheap fix before moving on to expensive and difficult ones. HTH!
