don't ever, ever compare any mistakes i may make to drunk driving.... you are trivializing the expectionally selfish, dangerous, and downright moronic act of drinking and driving. your analogy then can be applied to murderers and child molesters who "made a mistake" and then feel bad about it. if he wouldn't have wrecked the car, he would have done it again.
it's not like he didn't know what the potential consequences may be. if that were the case, then pity may be well deserved. as it is, he knew, and therefore, he deserves far more than some people on the net riding him like seattle sue.
he's an idiot for doing it, and i really can't believe you're defending him.
tell you what, how about you let your kids (or other family members you may care about) go hang out in their front yards, go ride their bikes, or even drive home from work. i'll go get tanked, and go for a spin. i'm sure i'll feel bad after it's all said and done, so i'm sure you'll be ok with it.

I never once said what he did was right, or even that it wasn't a big mistake. Don't put words into my mouth, thats not right.
The guy is taking it pretty bad, and while it is VERY serious, there's no sense to keep beating the guy when he's already down. That doesnt help anything.
I'm certainly not trying to trivialize this whole situation.

I have to agree with being selfish and silly (or maybe just downright dumb), but what does he have in common with the above listed offenders?
It's best to learn this way, before he took his life, or worse yet, someone else....and I'm sure he is fully aware of that.
Wrecking a car, court, maybe jail, no driver's liscense, high insurance, and a ton of $$$$$ hopefully will help teach a lesson. Even with that said, just hang in there, and get some help....because in the end that will probably help you more so then anything else.

nothing. and thats my point. i was showing how weak his anaolgy was.
and i agree. i am glad he sees that he made a horrible mistake, and i am glad that he will (hopefully) learn enough from it to never do it again.

He made a Mistake... What he did was alot better than some other mistakes people have made.. Like buying a Camaro RS automatic then putting it in a ditch sober.
