i lost 7-8 mph off of my Trap speed and gained +2 seconds on the ET after i gutted the cat.

I have 0 in the cat, no resonator, but i have a muffler in the rear.

what would give me the most backpressure without replacing the cat?

putting a cherry bomb or muffler in the middle where the resonator was? confused

Then you get the gasses to go straight out, whereas a empty chamber might disrupt airflow a bit.

thats what he said, hes like " the gasses are just bouncing all around in the insides before it flows out, and its not making good flow which is making you slower" so... i gotta get a pipe, but what do i do for the outside edges? the pipe wont fit the whole thing....

Correct, a hollow chamber will lower exhaust flow velocity, which can possibly lower your power.

back pressure adds exhaust velocity but putting somthing strait inside there will bring back the velocity and not add anyback pressure. I had all three cats gutted on my 95 and there was a tremendous loss of power but when I got my off road y-pipe It produced so much. .8 in my et drops same road g-tech.

I was thinking about putting straight pipes where the pre-cats are, and leaving the main cat alone. Would that make a positive or negative effect on the car?

What i have seena lot of people do, including my brother on his offroading beast, is take OUT the cat, and add just a straight pipe where it use to be, and then when it comes time to get a stupid E-Check, swap the pipe for the cat laugh seems to work really good, considering you do loose some power using the cat.

....or instead of putting the cat back on for the emissions test, just take your car back to the muffler shop that removed it in the first place. I'm sure they do emissions testing. They'll make it pass! smile
