I would have to agree on the bad weld appearance. At least there are not carbon trails all over them
If he/she has 50 years experience I would expect alot more. I can tell where they did and didn't use filler rod by the shape of the beads. That there makes for a weak weld
Considering you're selling manifolds I would strongly suggest you to pressure test them before selling or tell your welding buddy to step it up and make a better quality weld. I myself would never let anything out like that to someone...even if I had to machine off the welds. A good welder will never allow that out. I'm not trying to discredit you Travis just trying to help you out if I can.
