It's actually not that hard. With those detailed instuctions, it's really easy to do...harder than a late model Escort, but nothing when compared to most import 4-cyls and 6-cyls...GM DOHC 3.4s, etc...

The weakness that I see in the Zetec isn't the belt, it's the guide pulleys...so the timing belt kit is the way to go with the Zetec, in most cases...at least for me it's been the case.
