Last night (22nd) while cruisng in my Contour after a wash, wax, and rear brace bar install I pulled up to a light at a busy intersection and was met with a red light, so I stopped. When I got the green arrow to make a left,I abruptly hit the gas, but to my suprise the engine just revved up like I was in neutral. So I looked down at my shifter just in case, and nope I was still in D. Then, suddenly, my car lurched forward, reluctantly, but I was moving nonetheless.
I expericanced the same problems for about 200 feet down the road so I decided to pull on the a little residental side street. I put the car in park, let it sit for about 15 secs. and then tried to go again, same problem. So I drove another 25 feet and parked it, got out and noticed red ATF all over the side of my car and even on top of my hood. Upon lifiting the aforementioned hood I was greeted by my ATF drenched Engine bay. Looked under the car and found a big puddle and I followed a streak of the stuff back to the place where I temp. stopped and found another puddle. I fear the worse has happened but I am not sure. The Shop I had it towed to will not be able to look at it until the 24th.
I'm 17 and scared that I'll be without my car for a very long time and/or broke/in debt. Can anyone tell me my options and what I should/can do next. Any advice is appreciated. Oh and I just had the tranny flushed at 62,000 miles now has 62,750 and I'm not sure is the previous owner (bought it used at 50,000) properly maintained the car. Sorry for the long post but I had to get my story out there.
