Demon, I see the point that you are trying to make. However, I have to disagree with your comparison of a Jag/LS vs. an SVT.

I just don't feel that the Jag/LS engines are tuned for flaunting max hp numbers. I believe that they are tuned more for driveablity...broader torque curves and the like. The target customer for a Lincoln LS or Jag S-Type isn't racing around and trying to stay in the power band. The majority of owners have automatic transmissions as well. Having variable cam timing doesn't automatically mean more power. It can be tuned for different results which might be max power, fuel efficiency, low end power, etc. It's usually a blend and that blend depends highly on the vehicle and the vehicles target customer.

Would you want the 200hp 2.5L SVT engine or the 200hp 3.0L engine in an Escape? I'll take the 3.0L anyday with it's 200lb-ft max torque and broad powerband. It suits the vehicle and it's intended purpose which is, driving around town and hauling cargo not low ETs at the drag strip.

If you're going to go by hp/L comparisons only, why not include the Honda 2.0L with 200hp vs. the 2.5L 200hp SVT motor. Sounds like it smokes the Duratec, right? Do they have the same torque spread, no. It doesn't hit it's peak torque of 142lb-ft until 6000 rpm. How driveable would an engine tuned like that be in a luxury sedan?

Well...yeah you could bolt LS or Jag mounts to the Taurus block. But where you bolt the other end of the mount to might be a problem.

Jag/LS HP is directly a result of the PCM. There is much more to control (read: restrict) on that engine than the SVT. Triple stage intake, VVT, and luxo restrictive exhaust. Not to mention the fluffy quiet intake in front of the TB. That airbox is a mess.

With proper PCM tuning, I betcha that Jag engine will walk the SVT anyday.

This is in reference to a RWD platform. - so the location of the mounts is def going to be an issue - but not a tuff one.
