I had the same thing, it was literally broken, and I'm quite positive it broke from a physical impact (drove over a bad RR crossing at night, hit the car very hard).
Strange, I never had the charging light though.

You can get it at NAPA ($5 - they even had it on stock in the middle of nowhere east Tennessee where my car broke doen), or actually you can bolt the 2 terminals together and forget about the fuse.
If your alt goes crazy, that 175A fuse will be the last thing to burn out.
