I know you've already made up your mind, and I'm late to this thread, but I'm posting anyway.
I say keep the relationship since it seems to be going well enough, do the best you can with the distance, and see how it all works.
If suddenly you meet someone in college that you find is better suited to you and you feel would make a better mate, then you let the girl back home know that now you think it's best you break up.
But don't go on a taste test all over the place just looking for reasons to break up with your g/f back home.
Just go with the flow.
However, if you're looking for reasons to break up with someone, you should just do it.
