I would say that you did the right thing, I wish that I was able to go off to college instead of going to the local one. , but Being away will make things easier for you. You will be preoccupied with other things you'll forget

Exactly. Like I said, the relationship doesn't mean anything to you so why would you stay with her. But the whole idea that having a girlfriend out of state will ruin your college life is a pile of BS. That's just a lame excuse for people who don't want to work at a relationship. But it's not surprising when divorce is so rampant.
My wife and I started dating two weeks before I left for school, and she had already been away at school for a year before that. It wasn't easy, but it was definitely worth it.
Anyway, best of luck with having the best time of your life.

Did you ever think that all these swinging sausages here want you to dump her so they can have a chance at her? Food for thought, TB

I didn't read all the replies so maybe it has already been said. You're going away to college where there will be hundreds if not thousands of young single women away from their parents control for the first time.
There is a time to go steady with a girl and your first year in college isn't it. Go have fun. Leaving aside the hundreds if not thousands of young single women away from their parents control for the first time, you are going to meet new friends and start doing new things and gain new interests. You will change a lot and your current g/f will still be expecting you to be the same guy that left. Thats cause for strife.
Go have fun.
Bless our servicemen & women overseas.

You forgot about the 5th option! Dump her, sleep with other girls, come home and hook up again for old time sake!

I know you've already made up your mind, and I'm late to this thread, but I'm posting anyway. I say keep the relationship since it seems to be going well enough, do the best you can with the distance, and see how it all works. If suddenly you meet someone in college that you find is better suited to you and you feel would make a better mate, then you let the girl back home know that now you think it's best you break up. But don't go on a taste test all over the place just looking for reasons to break up with your g/f back home. Just go with the flow. However, if you're looking for reasons to break up with someone, you should just do it.
