I took the SVT for a test drive today. They want $9600 for a '98 E0 with 70k miles, which is obviously way out of line, and I told the salesman so. The clutch is making a very loud noise when it first engages. The engine is pretty strong, but probably just needs an Berryman's intake cleanup. The engine bay was sparking clean except for the coolant hoses. The exterior was not so good, but not bad for 70k miles.

During the "haggling" phase I once again mentioned that they'd have to come down before I'd even be interested. He said he'd do a Blue Book, thinking that he'd prove the car was worth close to the asking price. He came back and sheepishly told me the BB was $8500.

So, I'm thinking I'll get a carfax and the like and offer them $7000 or less. If I can fix up the Sport and sell it for a few grand I'll come out of it with a good beater car
