Iam loking in to getting the 3.0L upgrade done and have a few Questions. Now don't flame away. i did search. made my list of questions alot smaller.
1. is there a list ofparts that are needed? My dads friend owns a junk yard. if i had a list i could just go get a taurse motor and get wat i need much cheaper.
2. Any one do NOS in the 3.0??? iwold like to do this mod if it is posiable.
3. hat is the average Hp and tq gain?
4. if i had all the parts and a mechanice helping me(dad), how much time would it take for the whole thing. tear and put back togeather?
that is all i think
My dad i srealy hppy to help me becauee he just a had a haeart attack and can' work. he is so board.

are you planning on rebuilding the motor first or just slapping the parts together? i am really considering finding a 3.0 from a yard too and slowly building it up the way i want it.. lower compression than whatmy svt has for sure is one.. and eventually spraying the motor. is their a website that has a listing of junkyards in IL? good luck man.. i dont see why you wouldnt be able to spray it if its done right...

Sounds like a plan man!
Are you trying to win that " 200 MPH FWD 1/4 mile" for all that money?
That would be nice! smile

See my mom and dad said i could not have NOS till i was 18 so i only have 1year and 3 days left. ot to strt working.

Just doing a 3L swap on a SVT would net around 200HP/TQ at the wheels.

At over 11:1 CR NOS would drastically increase cylinder pressures. I would recommend a progressive NOS setup. Not cheap, but then again speed never is...

Be kind of a waste to do a total 3L rebuild and blow the motor because you skimped at the end.

Yes a full rebuild. I would not even think about just trying to put the parts together and go...

200HP is from just using the Taurus' Duratec without any of the SVT stuff.

"is there any way to get a bigger gain?"

Than a 3L & NO2?
In a contour?
The 3Ls are at between 220 and 290HP crank. + a 100 shot - say 350+HP. Some Vortec S/C guys are at 350 HP and climbing. Probably will get over 400 HP with intercooler.

How much do you want to ram through those front wheels? How much can you spend?
