You took the words right out of my mouth. Or, off my keyboard... Whatever!! You get the point. 
When I worked at a shop and did suspension repair, alignments, that sort of stuff - I used some simple pieces of wood all the time to get lowered vehicles on my lift. When I first started at one shop, they had one of their lifts so high you could not drive a stock Corvette on it without using wood planks to decrease the approach angle. After a few came in, I lowered and releveled the lift. Took some time, but no big deal.
