Actually I was thinking about it... If you got a small performance battery like a Hawker Odessey, you might be able to slide the battery over enough to fit the intake. Plus you would have a lighter battery.

I can't believe how much the CTA was hurting my car!! Before when I had the A/C on, my 'tour was a complete dog. It would bog at any stoplight and had NO power. Now it is running better than ever. My car is much more peppy and the throttle response has seemed to have improved.

I'd like to go to the local dyno shop and get my car baselined before I start doing some major mods.

Ben

maybe it is just the addition of the CAI?

I'd like to see if you noticed any differences between the CTA and a short ram version of your intake...then maybe you could be the new go to guy for intakes

I'm sure that the HOT under hood temps were causing my 'tour to run like crap. I guess that if you lived someplace where the temp never got over 50 degrees, a short ram intake would work just fine.

I'm also sure that if I just threw an air filter on the MAF (like the CTA), that all of the problems that I had would return. Which brings me to another idea that I had...

You could keep the stock air box, modify the fender tubing, drop in a K&N panel filter, and use tubing similar to mine. This would probably net you a budget CAI. With parts from overboost.com, it could be done for around $150.

I'm sorry guys buy I have no desire to produce these. The parts already cost soo much that it wouldn't be worth it. That is why I posted all of the pictures and the sources.

DIY.

Do you think it would be worth it to use the same stuff to go from the TB to the MAF with a stock airbox? I've been looking for alternatives and this is pretty sharp looking. Great job!

I think thats something that would work, then it would be kinda similar to SleeperZ's intake setup...then just get a K&N drop in. I wouldnt be surprised if that worked better than the CTA.

Works alot beter than a CTA setup.
Actually works as well as having the filter in the fender.
The hard part is optimizing the airbox for maximum airflow and capacity.

IIRC, the fender intake tubing is pretty small in diameter. If you could cut the stock fender tubing off right after it enters the fender, that should work pretty well.

BTW, sorry about not posting underside/filter pics yet. I never got a chance to go to my parent's on Sunday. Hopefully I won't have to work this weekend and I can get them posted.

I finally took some underside pics...

The filter just barely touches the fender:

You can JUST see the clamp on the top:

That hole location couldn't have been more prefect. Once I get a 3" filter, I should have a gap between the filter and the fender. (I'm using the CTA which is a tapered 3.25" filter.)
