Re-Badging is taking the exact same car and applying a different name to it, like the Atenza to the Mazda6.

Platform sharing is taking the same frame and applying different bodies, drivetrains, trims, etc.

While you can compare reliability levels amongst rebadged cars, as they are the same cars, you cannot compare reliability ratings with (most) platform-sharing cars as they can be totally different aside from the basic frame. It'd be like comparing the Contour to the Escape.




You're saying things I already know, but when two cars are built by the same company (Toyota, in this case) that share platforms, they're bound to share the same advantages/disadvantages. Comparing the Contour to the Escape is a little relevant, but there are better examples out there.

Just don't overheat yourself posting about it. I clarified my mistake, so I don't see any other huge problems here.
