Hey Danny no harm done, and yes most of the air comes from the outside but there is an opening in front of the filter in fact the KKM slides right into the opeining, that's how big it is, so it does draw some heat from in the engine bay, bet like I mentioned not nearly as much as the KKM because of it's complete open design. KKM is a great filter, but I definately notice a near night and day difference from the 2, and that's exactly what roar advertises.

As far as Pics. That won't be happening at least anytime soon, no digital camera, maybe when I go to my next Solo event and were taking pics, I might remind myself to take pics of the intake. It is Carbon Fiber so it's alot nicer than the KKM unit, and like I mentioned it is a very tight fit in there and basically that's about it..... laugh

Where did you buy it from?
Where did you notice the power gains, lowend highend?

I find it hard to believe that they are boasting 16hp&22tq at the wheels from the m3 they tested. Not doubting its better than the KKM but not that much!

Thanks,
Justin

Those numbers are with the electric blower added, I think.

But I'm suspicious of their blower because they say it only sort of helps the transition until you get up to higher speeds, at which point they rely on the ram effect. I would really like to see a figure for how much pressure boost their fan produces at, say, 250 cfm. I suspect it's probably less than the 1 PSI claimed by the e-Ram. But if it is that high, it could well explain the high dyno numbers.

mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid
planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip
involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure

I don't see anything on the page which suggests it was tested with a blower. Just says Hyper-Intake. What gave you that Idea?

If it were true, I would buy one! Don't see how it is though.

Also where do you see one for the contour, or did you just buy the mustang one.

Later,
Justin

Alright I'm in the process of deciding which intake will be best (kkm, k&m, weapon-r and now the Roar intake) for my SVT. From what quicksilver has posted, it looks like the roar has the best performance but I feel a little skeptical. First of all, the only fords they have listed for this mod is the mustang and new thunderbird. Did you use one of those and modify it to fit the SVT?

Also, how long did it take for you to receive everything quicksilver? I don't want to have to battle with a company that's impossible to get ahold of, especially over a shipping or warranty issue.

Overall though, I'm impressed with what you had to say and I'm leaning towards pumping out the $400 if everything sounds right. Considering it's performance and the fact that people on here are still having problems with their KKM, it might be a wise decision.

HellaHydro....I'm in the process of doing the same thing. What info have you found for the different intakes?? And, what IS the right application # for this Roar intake????????

OK Guys let's put it this way, first it's leap and bounds ahead of the KKM and look alikes, beleive me, but it will cost you. Second, there is an application for the SVT.

I just RACED a new Camaro Z28 which had an exhaust that was loud as hell, had all kinds of gauges in his car, and although he got a jump on me I ended up beating him in the end thanks to the wide turn on the freeway and the Roar, which than I flew past him going about 130MPH. He didn't have a chance after that, so he gave up, he even beeped his horn later down the road congratulating me, damn he must have been "SHOCKED AS HELL!"

I have the KKM but I no longer use it because why would I won't to drop down to something less worthy. Anyone want to buy my KKM. Anyways I've got the minny blower but I haven't installed it yet need to do some fabricating first. But I did test it and the damn thing blows like a MUTHA FUC*A.

The great thing about this intake is that it performs better than the KKM in the low range and the mid and screams like you wouldn't believe in the high end, which explains it's high breathing characteristics. This intake will be a plus if you do a complete exhaust upgrade which I will be doing very soon and changing the MAF and TB.......YOU DECIDE!!!! wink

Dont want to spoil anyones fun, but looking at Roars web site it looks awfully like inside the carbon fibre lookalike outside its just a couple of sponge filters.

Anyway on the Mondeo the Filter is not the bottle neck in air supply, its actually all those resonaters and pipes behind it. K&N, KKM, Roar or even no filter will give you at max 2hp and more noise than standard. I see no dyno difference between K&N and no filter on mine (lots more noise though)

The only way an air filter swap will ever give you more than 5hp is if you have modified everything else and the air filter is limiting the flow, this just isn't the case on the Mondeo (whoops Contique/SVT etc)

I've been doing a lot of intake work on my Mondeo, using a Dyno, and moding the filter and TB have not made more than 2bhp's difference, the intake path is the problem and gives very turbulent flow, we need to smooth this flow to get velocity up and make it longer.

By the way, Larger TB's have always given me less power as the volume of air through the intake manifold is the restriction, hence wider TB, same air flow = lower air speed

Just my 2 pence worth
