Call the company you're waiting to hear from. Ask them about the status of your application & the availability of the position. Let them know that you have an offer elsewhere that pays more. Also tell them that you would prefer to work for them and why.
You may get an updated offer for more money at the place you really want to be.
That is how I came into my last 2 jobs - at a higher wage than the original offer.
