I disagree, especially for public accounting.
The companies in this area are eager for the fresh college graduates and they recruit heavily in the local colleges.
They want people with minimal experience so they can mold them to the firm's specific needs and methods.
I'm not saying that there isn't a need for experienced people to fill positions as well, but I do know that firms around here are eager for new faces.
