Wow, the exact same kind of position I'm in.

Back from the interview this morning. Went well I think, but I've thought other interviews went well too. They make no guarantees about it going full time after the contract time, but both guys that interviewed me started out as contractors on temporary projects.
My Uncle says that when the lady asked me what was holding me back from accepting the offer yesterday that I should have said something about a higher salary. Hindsight is 20/20, but seeing how their offer wasn't in the salary range that I gave em, I doubt that would have worked.
It didn't work out, so it must not have been the job for me.

Yeah, at least you are getting offers. Jobs here suck, it took 30 Job applications and 6 months before I got one call, and I got the job there.

Don't beat yourself up. I did the samething, the week after I got laid off. I turned down a job as assitant manager in training at an Advance Auto Parts store. At the time, I was snickering to myself, "Man! I can do better than this." I look back now and say, "What was I thinking?!".
Just look at hindsight as a learning tool. But still, they would not give you the details of the job, before you accepted it, so you still really have nothing to worry about.

In all fairness to the company, they are just trying to get a solid answer so that they can fill their need and move on. They don't want to be strung along just to be shunned anymore than you would want a company to "get back to you next week"

What the f***ing f***? I make more than twice that (after you factor in time-and-a-half on Sundays) as a deli clerk! With your skill set you should be worth many, many times your present wage.

Exactly. You did the right thing, Perry. Seems a little shady anyways. Hopefully the next interview goes well.
Same thoughts here Perry. Non disclosure of the benefits package says it all. However, it's a dog eat dog world. If you were to find yourself in the same predicament again, I'd accept. Then continue looking for something better. In addition to the income, it seems that it's easier to to find a job if you already have one. Just my experience and opinon. Good Luck!

Hmmm. Just got a message from the staffing company from yesterday and they wanna offer me a job.
But, I'm waiting to hear back from an interview I went on last Monday. I'd have to move and it would pay less, but it's permanent and the job is pretty much exactly what I want. My old boss from Ball State kinda-sorta knows the would-be boss from this place. She called him the day after my interview to put in a good word for me and told me that she feels like I have a good chance at getting the job.
So accept this offer that pays more, is local, is a 2 - 3 month contract, and is kinda grunt work. Or a job I'd have to move for, pays less, is full time, is exactly what I want, but haven't been offered yet.

I'd go with the 2nd (assuming you're offered the job...)
Doing what you want to be doing is worth more than the increase in pay, whatever that is. Plus, with only 2-3 months guaranteed... do you REALLY want to go through this whole ordeal again??
