Anyway on the Mondeo the Filter is not the bottle neck in air supply, its actually all those resonaters and pipes behind it. K&N, KKM, Roar or even no filter will give you at max 2hp and more noise than standard. I see no dyno difference between K&N and no filter on mine (lots more noise though)
The only way an air filter swap will ever give you more than 5hp is if you have modified everything else and the air filter is limiting the flow, this just isn't the case on the Mondeo (whoops Contique/SVT etc)
I've been doing a lot of intake work on my Mondeo, using a Dyno, and moding the filter and TB have not made more than 2bhp's difference, the intake path is the problem and gives very turbulent flow, we need to smooth this flow to get velocity up and make it longer.
By the way, Larger TB's have always given me less power as the volume of air through the intake manifold is the restriction, hence wider TB, same air flow = lower air speed
Just my 2 pence worth I agree completely! Have you tried a Monster Flow filter? They claim to do exactly what you are stating, smooth the flow of air and reduce turbulance. Let me know what the results are if you try. Peace

I'll grant the curve, but flying by him at 130mph?

As a friendly reminder, even a new convertible automatic Z28 runs high 13's in the 1/4 mile and tops out a few ticks shy of 160mph.

The Mockery!!! You Guy's are partly right and very funny. First, Yes the Z28 would run over me if the stretch was long enough, but it wasn't and that's why I was able to beat him. The bend on the Freeway is not a sharp bend but you do go from heading West to straight North just from that bend, and although I didn't know how fast I was going around it because I was focused on the road, I did have 2 of my Bros in the car as well and they were watching the gauges. I passed the Camaro pretty quickly around that bend, and his car was screaming, but he probably couldn't push it like I could. The answer is "YES" I was going 130 around the bend, it's as simple as that. Oh by the way I do have 17"SSR's on my car so if my gauge was saying around 130 than I probably was actually going faster than that, come to think about it....... Just to let you folks know I'm not your everyday wannabe racer, I am a RACER, and RACE is what I do, Solo 1 & 2 that is. SVTimulate If anyone knows there cars it's me, so don't worry about it being a V6, because a Z28 is what it is....... I have no 1/4 mile ET's cause I'm not much of a drag racer, to boring, but I will say that I will beat my friends 230hp Audi TT, which has an upgraded exhaust and lowered.... "ALOHA, MALAMA PONO"

Are you talking about Zetecs here? If so, what in your opinion is the one thing someone should do with a Zetec intake? Personally I find it hard to believe that new filters won't help, given how numerous the positive testimonials for different filters have been.
96 GL Zetec ATX, white with pinstripe, nickname " Sam Smooth " mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure

I have the KKM but I no longer use it because why would I won't to drop down to something less worthy. Anyone want to buy my KKM. Anyways I've got the minny blower but I haven't installed it yet need to do some fabricating first. But I did test it and the damn thing blows like a MUTHA FUC*A.
The great thing about this intake is that it performs better than the KKM in the low range and the mid and screams like you wouldn't believe in the high end, which explains it's high breathing characteristics. This intake will be a plus if you do a complete exhaust upgrade which I will be doing very soon and changing the MAF and TB.......YOU DECIDE!!!! This post is a bunch of @#*T...get a life man...and enjoy the roar lol
Big gulps huh? Welp, see ya later
