They do allow passengers at the track I go to, and this track is extremely strict on everything else. Windows up while you run, no shorts or tank tops, etc.

I would have to agree they are.
3000GT is a maintenance pig and insanely expensive to repair.
The VR4 is basically a 4-door GSX. However it's heavier so therefore slower comparably. It does score extra points for being a 4-door though.
However the post was "greater then other DSM's" and DSM's are Diamond Star Motors which equals Talon, Laser, Eclipse.

The 2G's are slower. Plus they use a smaller turbo and run higher stock boost to begin with. (i.e. basically NO room to grow - a turbo upgrade is a MUST!)
The only thing a 2G has over a 1G is a better stock fuel system and maybe a better PCM.
Other then that nothing on a 2G is really "desirable" over a 1G. Neither is desirable compared to the HUGE aftermarket offerings and their very affordable prices!
Actually the 2g exhaust manifold flows better than a 1g, larger collector.

umm you're thinking of galant vr4's(very cool) but I think he means 3000gt vr4's 3.0 TT awd. 2 door not four

Sorry, I just assumed that Mitsubishi in general was DSM, Diamond Star Motors, therefore a 3kgt would count. I was taking a shot in the dark and it made sense to me.

2nd gen exhaust manifold flowed better. 1st gen turbo had higher flow capacity 2nd gen turbo did spool faster 1st gen has leaky capacitor problem with ECUs 2nd gen had crank walk problems(fairly often) 1st gen made 195 hp 2nd gen made 210
All FWD turbo DSMs came with a solid beam rear axle=Gay All AWD DSMs(always turbo) game with independant rear suspension
I could go on. In the end both gens were pretty evenly matched and had their ups and downs. It basically comes down to which look you want nowadays. Do you like the cutting look of the first gen or the sleek look of the second.
As far as a contest between a CSVT and a 1st gen. It'd be pretty good to watch. This being a stock vs stock contest I remind you. It would come down to driver.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/timeslips.phpCheck 'em out folks. AWD not good compaired to a FWD on eclipses? suuuuuuure. And look at how many 95+ are at the top of that list. There is a reason why the 92 and earlier ones are at the top of that list (and only 5 in the top 25 that are 95+). I have had a talon for 2 years now and have read a LOT on them. You can buy a decent used one for around $2500 and put $4000 in them and you are running mid to high 11's (most of the time that is without nitrus). The AWD is a huge factor two....you will not spin the tires out, so you can launch at almost any RPM. The engine is also bulletproof....I have 180,000 miles on it and it runs smooth. Also, getting aftermaket parts are sooooo easy to get it really isn't even funny. Putting them in is also easy because there is space under the hood, unlike the contour. I do own a 95 contour se with a five speed and it does go, but when you compair them to dsm's, a dsm is going to spank most of the contours out there....even SVTs. Sorry to break this news to you people. Heck, even the early nonturbo models people are getting those to 60 in a low seven seconds. They really are good cars....if you see one at a good price pick it up...I promise you won't be disappointed. Thanks for letting me ramble!
