so my dad was driving the car and we were at a light. being the smart one he is he decides to slip it into nuetral, and rev the engine to 4000, then drop it back into drive and pin the gass to the floor . after that, the flexpipe was fubared. so we got that fixed, and now the car makes a wierd griding/rattling in the front end, only upon acceleration. what is it? n e one know?? i want to get this fixed asap, as it's really annoying. any help would be awesome! how much would this cost approx.?

Wheel bearings, maybe??? This occured on my 'tour upon accelarating, especially when turning. I believe I paid in the neighborhood of $400 to $450 to replace the front wheel bearings.

Are you getting the grinding noise in straight-line driving, cornering, or both?

not in cornering, just in straight line acceleration.

it'd help to know if it is a zetec or duratec.
I assume the former, since don't know anything about the latter
what do you mean by the flexpipe was fubared ? and how was it fixed ? on the zetec it's one assembly all the way up to the cat.
were the exhaust hangers/brackets (esp. near the flexpipe) checked/changed ?

it's a duratec. the flexpipe blew apart from the side, and since it's only a pipe about not even a foot long, they oprdered in a new one, and replaced it. i've been told by friend at www.2sho.com that it could either be a motor mount, or an exhaust component....IE a hangar or something.
