This Ricer bashing has grown tiresome.

What bugs me is the assumption that because it's a Honda, it a) doesn't deserve to be hot-rodded and b) can never be fast.

Ever driven an 89 CRX with an ITR engine? Or an Accord block hybrid? Ever seen a homemade twin turbo setup? You think that shiz won't eat you alive?

And as for the rant, in making fun of the ricer, he displays his own ignorance of aerodynamics. Downforce has nothing to do with the drive wheels. The only stipulation is that, for any car, if you're going to do it, you have to do it at both ends. (And then, of course, there's some tuning to do.)

I'm not saying there aren't stupid ricer cars. I'm saying that some of the rants against them are just as ignorant. I did some stupid stuff to my first car, too, and I'm still an avid car enthusiast.

heh, me too. 1994 Mercury Topaz with a half-assed bondo'd hood scoop with z3 vents on the hood and a fiber glassed front light bar painted primer grey, painted interior black (hated the factory grey color), ghetto rigged a manual "ricer" LED knob onto the auto, cheap audiobahn e-bay subs/box...hey, at least i tried the only decent thing was the kick panels i had made lol

i agree with the guy that is tired of the ricer bashing. Its worn thin. Hondas are way better than Fords anyway. Look at the recall that just came out. I will say its one thing to mod your car and a completly another to make it an eye sore. That orange colour is sick no matter what vehicle is on and that puke green is the same for that matter. And for the guy that said that hondas dont displace nothin, our mystiques and contours dont displace much more so i wouldnt say boo about that. (well for the 2L anyway) As for me modding the car isnt about being able to do a qtr mile in 9 secs, personally I think if you want to do that you should go out and get a real muscle car and not a grocery getter.

oh and that car in the pics above is damn ugly. Fix the hood up a bit would ya?

the 2.5L doesnt displace all that much more...the 2.5L is actually a failry small v6 engeine...the 4.3L engine...now thats a good size V6!

I agree with the artical, but i do not agree with it being directed twards everyone modding a honda (as stated int he writers last paragraph).

I have seen very quick and tastfully done hondas (though rare for me to see) that i could respect as being fast and good looking.

Also the people who were driving them were not ass holes or your tipical ricer that flyes by flashin hazards...actually only 1 out of the 7 people i have met street races...the others do AutoX or car shows only.

Though, the bad out way the good in the import seen i have seen enough to know that there is still a glimer of hope that good looking cars and respectful people can come out of the sceen.

Just letting you know, My frined just bought a new Accord, and had a recall come out for it 1 week after he bought it for a oil filter housing issue.

the oil filter was too large so it would leak then catch on fire and burn up the car....sound to me like they have there own problems. Doesn;t sound way better to me...and i ahve driven both hondas, hyundai's, fords and cheveys...and i cannot say one was way better than the other...everyone had there problems.

Like I said before in a privious post:

Nothing is perfect...Not Even a Honda
