I love it because of a couple of reasons. I love music and in a car is the one place where y ou really don't have to worry about disturbing people too much and getting [censored] at for music being too loud. The other reason is that my dad was a mechanic and when I was real little I did some work on cars with him but he died when I was 13 so I never really got to learn how to work under the h ood on cars that much. Car audio is so much easier to work with so I can undertake projects and do work and feel a sense of accomplishment and show off my work!!!

I don't know if car audio is eaiser per say.. When you get into theory and HUGE systems then its pretty close to rivaling normal auto mechanic stuff. Some of the MECP master installer stuff is mind blowing...
I love it becuase ive been doing it for so long its like second nature to me. I don't do so much car audio anymore but mobile electronics. Custom work doesn't pay enough and you just get people who can't convey there ideas correctly then the installer is the bad person becuase the customer is a idiot and can't explain how they want there system. I used to like SPL more but as im getting older I have a new found apperciation for SQ.

I like to tinker, so I enjoy car audio. I can play with box sizes, placement, crossover settings, etc.

I like building new trunk setups and such just like someone would want to paint a picture; it takes creativity and time and when I get done, I look at it and say "time for me to rip it apart and so something new!"
thats actually what im about to do now, change my trunk setup again
side question: i read in a magazine about an 8-week car audio school located in arizona and toronto, anyone ever heard it? is it worthwhile? got the website/address?

I just got into car audio because I love music. I play many instruments (drums, piano, guitar, bass, sax, etc..) and i'm in and have been in many bands. When I listen to music, I want it clear and loud, no crappy drivers or static or anything like that for me please.

Mobile Dynamics? If soo there the #1 school. I used to work with a guy who went there good installer. I think he was there for 4 months though? The teachers at mobile dynamics are editors and such for ahh hell i think its Car audio and electronics. The cool thing is that you take the mecp basic(bronze) and MECP first class(silver)when your there. Then after that you need to work in the business for a year then you get the First class certification. Not very many places's care if your a certified installer though. Best buy, and a few high end Mom and Pop stores. I was gonna go to Mobile dynamics when he went just to go, I was already a MECP first class installer at the time, but i didn't. They teach you everything from Box theory to Fiberglass, and custom center counsels and such.

So do you think its worth it to go? I just think it would be better if I wanted to get employed by a Mobile Electronics store around here in Columbus, seeing as how I don't have any official experience (other than messing around with my own stuff).
