Yup the heads are p&p'd but tbh, its only been pinging under part throttle lately and the heads have been done for a while.
The UIM has been sent back to EH for further honing of the exit ports, so watch this space!
I may have to get a custom chip to up the fueling by installing the 19's I have.
In Europe we have a chip called unichip, which is a specific map for each car. What else can you recommend? I am not a fan of superchips, (had one on my last car, improved drivability, but did not give an extra 10bhp like they claimed) I have read about people getting street flight chips. Is that about it chip-wise for the tour?

Has anyone else dyno'd with their new EH UIM? I would love to know how others are getting on?

Alan, did you get your UIM back yet?

Hi Ronan:

I've not gotten a chance to send my UIM to EH. I've jumped into doing Solo I competitions this year and trying to end up in 2nd place for the year in my class (it's a small field ), so I'm going to have to wait till next month to pull it. I'll let you know what it does.

I think Derek is likely right about the 17# injectors. The intake/TB/manifold/exhaust, etc., is likely out running the injector/ECU's ability to provide enough fuel properly. I'd forgotten, or hadn't noticed, that you weren't running 19# injectors.

Ronan, you mentioned that you're getting some pinging under part throttle. This could be a result of there being a lean situation from the above combinations. Did you get an A/F reading with the dyno run? Were you getting the pinging before installing the UIM?

I've heard good things about the Unichip but really don't know anything about them. When you say they have "a specific map for each car" do you mean for each make and model or is the chip burnt (tuned) individually to each individual owners actual car?

StreetFlight (now Arizona Dyno Chip for the chip part of things), from what I've gathered from my time viewing these forums is the only tuner that has shown positive results on a regular basis (NA market) for the 2.5L Duratec. Once I've got my UIM done I plan on doing another set of dyno runs w/wide-band O2 sensor readings and sending that to them. They can then use that data to tweek the tuning - not as good as having the car at their shop but they're over 4,000 miles away so it's too far for a weekend run .

Regards, Alan

Thanks for your reply Alan. I am only running on 'weedy' 17's and I think that by now I should be running 19's with a custom chip. I will stick to the uni-chip cause I can get it done locally on a rolling road. I installed SVT LIM to my car too, and I have to say , even with the 17's I have noticed a bit more torque low end, and a bit more power up top, so it seems I may be maxing these injectors, but they are most capable of giving over 200bhp at the crank.

In relation to the EH UIM, its currently with Rick Miller getting additional porting to enlarge the ports to the gasket size, so that may make a difference too.

But I reckon the day has come to shell out for a custom chip.....

Good to hear your doing so well in the Solo series! Cant wait to see some pics.

ford has a new program flash if you are experiencing pinging under partial load. www.alldata.com says you can try it by getting into 4th gear and bring it slowly to 1.5 to 2 grand and then barely stab the gas and see if it knocks. ford is mandated by law to provide a cheap fix and dealership reprogram for this problem.
