One of the reasons I sold my Contour, even though I wanted to keep it for a spare car,
was the cost of insuring it, even if it was just liability insurance !
The yearly cost of insurance for me would have been in the area of $1,200/yr,
which would all have been for liability ONLY.
When I got the insurance quote for the Marauder,
the full coverage only costs me $1,000.
So with the costs of the Contour's insurance being MORE for LESS coverage didn't sit well with me,
and I decided that since the car was still in excellent condition,
and I had kept very good care if its maintenance,
that someone may have a need for it.
I took a chance,and listened to a friend's suggestion as was able to sell the Contour
for more than I was allowed for a trade-in, and put the money towards my Marauder.
Insurance quotes inside the 5 boroughs tend to be 50% - 90% MORE than what I am paying now.
