To take it to the extreme, have two such dogs in your home. When an intruder enters your home and wanders through the darkened hallways, he will attacked (possibly) from different directions at high speed. Given the speed & power of a German Shepard in close quarters, a home invader would have only time to kill one of the dogs and this would require a direct headshot. The other dog would take him down.

I completely agree. I'm not anti-gun at all, but with a dog you aren't going to shoot or hurt the wrong person. I've seen how protective a 60lb. dog can be. I can only imagine one that is twice the size. Is there training for dogs? If not, that would be a good idea. It would be hard though. With people saying the dogs would become more aggresive with the wrong people, etc.
