i recently got into the tour and noticed that the interior lights stay on while the car is running. I know it is not a stuck door switch cause they turn off when the vehicle is shut off. any ideas.

did you check the switch by the light to make sure it's not on?

yeah i checked that. i don't know what it could be. at first i thought it was just maybe a stuck door switch. but the lights go off when the car is off . i'm stumped. anyone?????

Check the dimmer...if you go all the way bright, and then go further it switches the interior lights on. I didn't even know this was a new thing on the 99. My mom's 98 didn't have it.

that could be. the dimmer for the gauges is a nice guess. check that, after full illumination setting for the gauges, the dimmer can be clicked on to turn on the interior lights. but IIRC correctly, it stays on all the time, it doesn't turn off unless you turn it off. check it though. otherwise there's a ghost in youe electrical system.
