126K on my 97.
other than regular maintenance like brakes and the timing belt change and fluid flushes that have already been mentioned the only major components that finally went out on me was the water pump and a wheel bearing. anything else that went wrong was due to my doing. I'd say this has been a very reliable car for me considering I drive the wheels off of it.

94k on my '97.
The only problems I have had are one bad o2 sensor and one bad IAC.
I had to replace the transmission due to high rpm launches and drag racing, but I was going to due it anyway.
Timing belt was changed when I added adj cam gears.
Serpentine belt was changed when I added the UDP.
After that, just the normal maintenance of; plugs, air filter, oil/oil filter, brakes, tires, t-stat, etc.

that sucks man...how much $$ to fix?

about $600 if they need to machine the head.

I'm seriously about to pop this sh!t open myself and force myself to learn how to fix it cuz nobody else seems to be helping me. And you people on here keep saying its easy so hell...I don't think I'm so dumb that I can't take a head off and put it back on.

Just gotta find some tools and a ford service manual.

if you put your mind to it, you can do it. i dont know whats involved with taking the head off, but look at me: i basically rebuilt the transmission of our '42 ford pickup as part of my senior project, and ill be honest, before i started i didnt have much knowledge- it was the first time i had done something like that. i recieved minimal help from the owner of the shop i worked at- he told me which nuts/bolts to take off, which pieces needed to me machined/replaced, etc, and how to put it back on, but i did nearly all of the work myself, which i was surprised about. in the end, its all nuts and bolts...
do some research online, get to know what you need to do, and then go and do it, helps to have someone helping out as well... i mean you might as well go slow and give it a shot, seeing as that the car cant be driven right now anyways, right?
anyways, good luck, that was my shot at trying to inspire you

109K on my '99 (I am the first and only owner) - valve cover gasket and front wheel bearing; all other stuff I replaced or gonna to (such as serpentine belt, MAF, TPS) was replaced "just in case." Knock knock on the wood.

Well I just got my 'tour from the mechanic with a new tranny. She drives like a dream! Hopefully it'll stay that way for a while...
