I got 87,500 on my Contour and I have a completely rebuilt tranny to show for it. I still think it's a great car for the price though [I knew ATX was a weak point ahead of time]. I had no other problems with a car whatsoever and I hear Zetecs are actually pretty reliable engines. What mileage have you got on your car and what's your repair history like?

Well some people have good luck, it is a great car but I swear mine was built on a Friday. 47k-65k, radiator, serp belt, hood wouldnt open latch broke, TSS sensor leaked after replacement, shifter indicator broke, wheel cylinders leaked, needed to replace cylinders/shoes/drums hardware kit, brake fluid was all over the place, heater switch but Ford covered it, needed an O2 sensor but that wasnt a big deal, up and downstream though, drivers side power window switch, right headlight assembly cracked needed replacement, passanger side window black seal, slight leak. Several littel parts to have broke to, washer nozzle, thing that holds the hood support ( yellow clip), near the passanger side where they would rest their left leg, that broke apart from one of the locations for some reason one day. So I dont know I have always done maintance to it, but it still gives me [censored].

About 110k miles-
Other than preventative maintenance and some small non-engine stuff, all I've HAD to do is change the top o2 sensor, twice, and replace a couple pulleys.

84K (actually, 83,376 to be exact)
A/C compressor clutch (needss done) IAC valve Timing Belt wheel bearing
and thats about it...as for preventative maint:
waterpump (while the TB was being changed) Serp belt (same)
and regular maint: tires, spark plugs and wires air filter brakes
everything else, i have done as mods....and no, i still havent replaced the muffler...at 83,376 miles it shows no sign of needing replaced.
but i do have a hole in my catalytic converter somewhere...
Regards, Cole.
