I just bought my SVT used and the when you put it into third gear it grinds very very loud... My friend who also has an SVT has had the same problem, it seems that if you double clutch to third, the problem is less common though... Is this a common problem with SVT's, has anybody else heard of or had this problem???

Yes, it is common on all MTX-75's, not just those in SVTs. Search the Transaxle forum for the words "third" and "synchro" and you'll learn about the causes and some workarounds or solutions that you can try.
