In a way, Renault *IS* back. Witness the revival of Nissan/Infiniti. Not that I liked the Altima when I went to look at it, but you gotta admit it's priced really aggressively and the features and horsepower are there. Then there's the G35 and Z car. None of them are my cup of tea, but these will appeal to the masses.

All I have is 2 dead end cars that were both discontinued the year I bought them, never to be made again. And I love both of them. Funny how I admired Peugeots in the early 90s too...

I'll bet you $10 that any new Mondeo that comes to market in the US will be US made. At a time when Ford are idling US plants, there is no way that the UAW will countenance importing euro Fords.

Therefore, the same schmucks that put our cars together previously will be putting the new ones together. The fubar'd it before, they'll do it again.

Plus the schmucks that "fix" our cars treat the customer with the contempt normally reserved for child molestors. See the thread on what dealer mechanics think about customers. Pay particular attention to the linked thread on flatratetech.com about wiring harness issues.

Ford can go to hell.

Regarding the comments about the reliability if Alfa's, when was the last time any of you guys saw/drove/serviced an Alfa. If you referring to the 10yr old heaps that you occasionally see running around, that criticism is justified. But I was referring to the new Alfa's...156 & 166 specifically.

Alfa has put a lot of time/money/effort into their manufacturing process and quality control. Sure, problems do still exist. But I find it hard to believe that the service will be as ****ty as Fords.

Plus I should have known the sniggers that mention of any european non-German marque elicits on this forum.

I for one am a HUGE Alfa fan. I was in Italy a while back in the fall, and they all joke about what junk the Mondeo is. The Alfas- new ones- are holding together, while every Mondeo I saw looked like crap.

I am kinda on Mark's side on this one. I LOVE my Contour. But the finish has started falling off of my steering wheel. I am tired of the blower motor switch catching fire while I drive. I don't like the caucaphony of skueaks I hear each day. I don't like the shoddy assembly. I LOVE the engine. I don't like the transmission. I don't like the fact that my whole dashboard is crooked and they wouldn't fix it. I LIKE the styling.

I love the car, I hate Ford. What a position. Will I buy this new Mondeo? Well, I will be on the market as soon as college/ grad school whatever is over... so I will DEFINITELY LOOK. And drive. But it will take a great first impression to get me to write a check.

As an "EX" Alfa owner...you'd have to do a lot of convincing to get me to buy another one.

Nice cars, but talk about unreliable and finicky!!!

I view Alfa's right up there with Saab's......another car I got rid of before the lease expired!!!

FIAT aka Fix It Again Tomorrow or F!@# It And Thumb.

My dad had a Fiat 132 for a while when I was very young. It sounded great but I remembered it rusted in front of you. It was a POS, just like many cars of the '70's.

"Where did the Contour come from?" Kansas City and Mexico.

"SOOO MANY PROBLEMS, because of the US goverment CHOKING it" How can the US government mess up a car's quality? Another conspiracy theorist?

"FORD will NEVER learn from its mistakes."
Do you read any Auto news stories? They just restructured managment and are spending money on quality. Are there any recalls on 2002 Fords?
Yes, under Jac Nassars control they messed up, but hes gone.

"I love my car dearly and I don't regret buying it" Yet post that it's crap?

Why are you "trolls" in this club at all, complete with sigs? Why don't you get new cars and get on with life? And no, I dont plan to answer more HS trolls who post old news again.

Also, go to any Honda and Toyota dealer and feel the "contempt" that they feel for the customers. They certainly are not a church.

'I was in Italy a while back in the fall, and they all joke about what junk the Mondeo is.'

And they are who? "Fix it again tony" and the designers of Russian Ladas?

Fiat is eventaully going to get swallowed by GM and then let's see what they think of Italian engineering.

Lock this waste of a forum!

Where did I state in any of my posts that my car is "crap" --- please answer this question.

So everyone who expresses any post criticising Ford is a "troll" ?? I guess we have a few thousand trolls here then.

I'll get a new car when when I feel like it thanks, unless you want to make my payments for me.

Don't run away after making statements I'd like you to explain. I nevermade any statements regarding Toyota or Honda or any other manufacturer selling cars today in the US.

I don't what you meant by HS, I assume high school. All I can say is I wish I was back in high school, not that any high schoolers opinion is any less valid than anybody elses.

Regards... I await your explanation.
