Hey Bill P.,
I'm down with IP Tech. I want to work with them with development. Been talking to Shawn about it. No word as to when yet, but he said they're interested.
Oh and you're right about the customer service.
That ZX 3 will be off the hook! I talked to Shawn about it Friday night at the digs. That thing is going to fly!. I personally don't think nose push will be an issue with the right suspension. You'll just need a firm back end (still sway bar and adjustible coilovers/struts) and a complient front end with some decent camber. You might even want to try playing with the caster to try and get the weight of the motor just behind the center line of the front wheels. Just a thought.
Oh yeah, and Shawn said something about being able to get a 3.0L short block from ford for $800? Thats cheaper than some nitrous systems I've seen....With the experience the shop gets from your (and hopefully my) car, maybe they can develop a marketable 3.0 kit for cougars/contours/svts that could sell cheaper than SHO shop.
Man I'm full of ideas...I hope I can get together with these guys.
Maybe I'll see you over there sometime.
Later, John J

What is the weight difference from the 2.0 to 2.5L and then to the 3.0?
dry weight of the 2.5L is 367 lbs (supposedly lightest 2.5L V6 made d/t Cosworth pressure casting technology.) The 3.0L should be similar as block is the same.
I believe the 2.0 is about around 320 -340 lbs, not that much different.
Glad to hear of a new shop & good luck. Cams, adjustable cam timing gear, upgraded valve springs/retainers & even high flow/big valve Duratec heads would be great parts to think about marketing as nobody else does. Hmmmmm, how far from Richmond?

There won't be a huge weight difference between the Zetec and Duratec blocks. IIRC, the Zetec has a cast-iron block, so fully dressed it's probably within 30lbs of the Duratec.
That said, the Duratec being a much wider motor shifts more weight forward of the front wheels, shifting the car's CG forward just like it would if the Zetec were, say, 100lbs heavier. Regardless, some stiffer front springs will be in order.

Ah! I'll just wait for the straights!! No seriously, we will address the issues in many ways from suspension (drop, camber, caster, sway bars etc), wieght transfer (battery relocated), as well as the obvious braking problem we will have (nice problem to have heh?). Yes, the duratec is not THAT much heavier than the zetec, heck the zx3 is 2550 lbs, the cougar can handle the duratec weighing in at roughly 2700 lbs, for a mere 150 lbs difference. Hey, not to mention, theoretically the 3.0 should be minutely lighter than the 2.5, and well, those heavy stock exhaust manifolds will have to go in the trash as well I put nothing past Sean, I am convinced he will build me one sweet (and very fast) ride!
