Ok I have been thinking of different space saving desings for amp placements, I have two to mount, a ppi 2600& ppi pcx440. Here is what I realy have been wanting to do, thoughts opinions and pro/cons Also I have already installed Jl audio xr series 5-1/4" componets in the front, and 5x7 rear Jl audio tr series. Right now all I have pushing those is power from my Apline radio, supposedly 40x4 and they have no bass hardly but the highs are ok(my subs are disconneted), if I run my amp to these are they going to sound 100x's better or am I better of ditching those speaks and ampflying something new. They are a couple years old, and not sure if I have the specs around. Any help would be appreceated. TIA

They fit perfectly already.
I was thinking if I installed in the back seat, overheating would be an issue, I could install fans though, what does everyone else think.

It all depends how hot your amp get when there int he open.. you could always cut out a little more then lay some fiberglass inside of it then put a fan to remove the hot air then lay the stock carpet back over it.
Or not do anything just put the amps in. It all depends on air circulation and exposed heat sink area. you could always get a amp like the Kenwood Excelons that had built in fans on the top and do it.

i have 2 pcx amps also to install. i've thought of the back of rear seats too but it would be way too much work. i believe i'm going to build the wall like shown in that pic u posted to hold both amps. the fans on these amps flow air across the amp from the sides and pulls the hold air from the sides also. i'll cover them with plexi and maybe cut a logo or something in it for looks and to allow heat to escape. maybe cut some holes in the side of the amp rack to let air in and out. my back doors have reference 5x7s. they happen to come with 6x8 mounting adapters. i'm hoping to build the rack behind the 60 part of the 60/40 split so i can still retain useage of the 40part. the sub box will sit behind the amprack keeping the 40 part split still open

i say amp the jl stuff u have now. if it sounds bad then get new speakers. your running the 2600 bridged for the sub? thats what i'll be doing for around 500watts rms, with the 4800 running the front mid tweet separates. back doors are powered off hu. the 40x4 from the hu isnt rms power, thats max power. constant power is likely 20ish x 4

That's my car in the pic. You gotta put fans in the seats to keep them cool and you don't need a fiberglass enclosure, wood works just as good. Get rid of the JL componets and do ADS or MB Quarts.

Cool,I like the setup. Now were did you put the fans? Does the seats have to be facing down for them to work good? So your amps in the seats are mounted using wood? Can the whole thing be made and reinforced with wood, I know nothing about fiberglassing anyway, and using wood it doesn't sound to difficult. So ditch the Jl components eh, considering you have a whole car full of there subs, that must be a good move for me.

I will probaly at least amp what I have now, since its pretty easy to change components. I had the 2600 bridged pushing two JL w3's in a very large box that almost didn't fit in my trunk(anyone want it). This time around I want to go one sub. Maybe ditch the w3's for a w7. Your right about the head unit, I had completely forgot, its been so long since I installed it. I was going to try and us my 440 to push all the door speaks.

I am waiting for explanation of this. So does everyone thats amping there door speaks completelty re-wire all them, or us existing wire? I was thinking of just running the wires up the middle of the car and splicing into factory harness, but I am not sure if thats a good idea. Thanks for all the help so far.
